Mike Jackson joins WSIC Radio Station as News Director

Exciting Changes Means Exciting News

Statesville, N.C. (Dec. 1st, 2020) – As of December 1st, 2020, WSIC is welcoming Mike Jackson as the new News Director. Mike’s radio experience goes back to 1979 when he began working for WBAG in Burlington at the age of 17. He began running shows at first but quickly moved to reading the news. Mike attended Western Carolina where he majored in Radio and Television Communication and minored in speech and was later Program Director.

As a native of Burlington, NC, and a former employee of various cities, Mike is very familiar with the Carolinas. Mike worked as a DJ and news reporter at stations in Asheville, Wilmington, Raleigh, and the Greenville-Spartanburg area. In 1989 Mike left radio to pursue a corporate career in marketing, working for a large restaurant chain. Missing the radio scene, Mike returned in 2007 working for News Talk 1110 WBT in Charlotte where he produced nighttime shows and filled in as news anchor frequently.

Mike has loved seeing the changes in the radio industry over the last 40 years and is amazed at what has been accomplished. WSIC looks forward to working with Mike and seeing what news he has to offer.
