West Virginia man charged with two counts of First Degree Burglary and Felony Larceny


On Thursday, July 9, 2020 at approximately 5:00 am, Iredell County Sheriff’s Office Patrol Deputies and Detectives responded to a report of a burglary in progress at a location on East Tattersall Drive near Troutman.

When the responding deputies arrived, they were told someone had entered the residence and had taken a wallet, hat, and two laptop computers. While canvassing the area, detectives located a second victim on East Tattersall Drive. This victim said a laptop was stolen from this residence as well.

Detectives spoke to several witnesses and gathered evidence at both crime scenes. Based upon all evidence gathered through their investigations, detectives were able to identify, Colton Shane Wright of Beckley, West Virginia as the suspect.

Colton Wright was located in the area, and led detectives to the stolen property. The detectives were then able to recover the stolen items, and returned them to the owners. In all 6500.00 dollars’ worth of property was recovered.

Colton Shane Wright was arrested and brought to the Iredell County Detention Center where he was charged with: Three Counts of Felony First Degree Burglary, and Two Counts of Felony Larceny. Wright appeared before Magistrate T. Thompson who issued a 100,000.00 dollar-  secured bond on these charges.
