Sheriff Darren Campbell stated: Monday March 5, 2018 members of the Aggressive Criminal Enforcement (ACE) Team were operating all-terrain vehicles in the south Statesville area based on reports and information the sheriff’s office received about suspicious vehicles, trespassers and possible drug activity.

While conducting this activity deputies came upon a suspicious vehicle parked on the roadside on Wall Street. Sergeant R. Sherrill and Sergeant C. Bentley could see the vehicle was occupied by a lone male. When the deputies approached the vehicle, the male subject, Christopher Brian. Tucker, began reaching behind the passenger seat.

Sergeant Bentley identified himself and attempted to speak to Christopher Tucker who appeared extremely nervous. During initial contact, Tucker continued to reach behind the seat. Tucker was then asked to step out of the vehicle while further investigation was conducted.

When Christopher Tucker got out of the car, a handgun case and a glass methamphetamine smoking pipe were observed in plain view. The soft shell handgun case appeared to contain a handgun which was silhouetted inside the case.
