Two Nights of Bridge Work on I-40 Planned in Iredell County

STATESVILLE – N.C. Department of Transportation contractors plan to temporarily close a section of Interstate 40 for two nights to perform bridge work.

Both directions of I-40 will be closed at the I-77 interchange for 30-minute intervals between 10 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday and 5 the following mornings. Bridge crews will implement closures to safely install girders for the new I-77 bridge over I-40. After each 30-minute closure, crews will reopen the road to allow traffic to clear before resuming bridge work.

The work is expected to be complete by Thursday, weather permitting.

Motorists should use caution while traveling through this area and plan for delays.
