Two face drug trafficking charges following Iredell traffic stop

PRESS RELEASE

Sheriff Darren Campbell stated: On Tuesday, November 26, 2019 deputies with the Iredell County Sheriff’s Office Interstate Criminal Enforcement (ICE) Team (ICE) conducted a traffic stop on a BMW on Interstate 40 Westbound, near Mile Marker 154.

While speaking with the driver, and passenger about why they were stopped, deputies noticed a very strong odor of Marijuana coming from inside the vehicle. A search of the vehicle was conducted.

The search located, 28.5 grams of Powder Cocaine hidden in the glove box, 72.5 grams of Marijuana packaged in different bags consistent with packaging used in the sale of marijuana, six Xanax pills. A search of the suspects located Marijuana wax stuffed down the passenger’s pants.

Both suspects, Cedric James Brown, and Chad Michael Simpson were taken into custody. They were taken to the Iredell County Dentition. The suspects were each charged with; Felony Trafficking Cocaine by Possession, Felony Trafficking Cocaine by Transport, Felony Possession with Intent to Sale & Deliver of Marijuana, Felony Possession of Marijuana, Misdemeanor Possession Schedule III (Xanax), Misdemeanor Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.

Magistrate D. Chambers placed Cedric Brown under a 300,000.00 dollars secured bond on these charges. Chad Michael Sampson under a 304,000.00 dollars secured bond.
