On July,26 2020, the Rowan County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to 185 Lenncass Dr., Kannapolis in reference to a shooting that had just occurred.  Rowan County Sheriff’s Deputies arrived on the scene and found that the residence had been shot into.  The occupant Raul Morales, Jr. told deputies that he was watching TV when he heard his bathroom window break,  Raul says he then heard the neighbors banging on his door and hollering are you OK.  The Rowan County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigative Division began an investigation and found that Raul and his previous girlfriend’s family are in a heated child custody battle.  It was later determined that Miranda Jenkins & Avondale Hampton drove to Raul’s house, and Avondale Hampton got out of his vehicle and fired shots into Raul’s residence.

The Rowan County Sheriff’s Office charged both Miranda Jenkins, a 38 year old black female of 26 Meadowville Ave. SW, Concord, NC, and Avondale Hampton, a 35 year old black male of 903 Brookdale Ave., Kannapolis, NC with Discharging a Firearm into Occupied Dwelling.  Both were taken before the magistrate, and were placed into Rowan County Detention Center under a $500.00 secured bond with a first appearance on 8/5/2020.
