Sheriff Darren Campbell stated the Iredell County Sheriff’s Office has charged 2 people with a church break-in that occurred in October. Providence Church of the Living God located at 3534 Hickory Hwy., Statesville was broken into sometime during the week of October 16th. The suspects had forced entry into the church by breaking the lock from the front doors. Once inside the church, the thieves removed a complete drum set and some microphone equipment from the stage. The case was forwarded to Det. Sgt. T. D. Miller of the Sheriff’s Office Detective Division for further investigation.
The Sheriff’s Office was contacted last week by Wilkes County Sheriff’s Office Detectives who were also investigating some church break-ins. Suspects were developed in the cases and on the night of Friday December 9th, Detectives with the Iredell County Sheriff’s Office assisted Wilkes and Yadkin County Sheriff’s Offices with a search warrant at a residence located at 134 Homestead Rd. in Union Grove. Inside the residence, Officers recovered several stolen pieces of electronics and music equipment including the stolen drum set that was stolen from the church. Along with stolen property, Deputies also discovered marijuana, drug paraphernalia, and marijuana plants growing inside the home. Both occupants of the home were arrested.
Jamie Lee Lamp, 24, and Amber Ann Houser, 27, both of 134 Homestead Rd. were arrested at the scene. Both were charged with Breaking and Entering a Place of Worship, Larceny after Breaking and Entering, Possession with Intent to Sell and Deliver Marijuana, Manufacture Marijuana, Possess Drug Paraphernalia, Maintain a Dwelling for Controlled Substance, and Injury to Real Property. Both Lamp and Houser are currently being held in Wilkes County Jail and will be facing charges in Iredell and Yadkin Counties.
