STATESVILLE, NC (WSIC) – Slowing traffic led to three wrecks on I-77 north in Statesville Thursday afternoon.
Trooper Allred with the North Carolina Highway Patrol tells WSIC the Iredell County Sheriff’s Office was dealing with an incident on the southbound side of the interstate and believes northbound traffic was slowing-down because of the blue lights. The first accident happened near the Broad Street Bridge. Allred says accidents near Garner Bagnal Boulevard and another just south of there were a chain-reaction from the first as a result of slowing traffic.
There were only minor accidents from the first accident. Traffic remained slow around 3:00 Thursday afternoon. Drivers are urged to avoid I-77 northbound in the Statesville area if possible.
