Teen killed in Iredell accident

PRESS RELEASE

On Sunday, 19 May 2019, the N.C. State Highway Patrol responded to and investigated a collision in Iredell County on Mount Bethel Road near Harmony. A 1999 Ford pickup truck was traveling south on Mount Bethel Road, crossed the centerline, ran off the road to the left, collided with a tree, and struck a fence. The driver was entrapped in the vehicle.

The driver, Edwin Alejandro Rogers, 16, of Harmony was transported by Iredell County EMS to Wake Forest Baptist Health in Winston-Salem. Rogers died at the hospital on Monday, 20 May 2019, as a result of his injuries. Rogers was restrained by a seatbelt at the time of the collision and impairment is not suspected. There were no other passengers. Exceeding the posted speed limit does appear to be a contributing circumstance in the collision.
