Teen charged with arson

Sheriff Darren Campbell stated that on Sunday May 15, 2016 Deputies from the Iredell County Sheriff’s Office was investigating a runaway juvenile call. As information was being gathered Deputies and officers from Troutman Police attempted to locate the runaway who was determined to be Nicholas Adams W/M 17 years old. At the same time another investigation was going on in regard to a Breaking and Entering and suspected Arson on Old Mountain Rd. Detectives responded to the scene of the Breaking and Entering and Arson.

During the investigation Detectives gained from Troutman Police that the runaway had in the past been charged by Troutman Police in connection to burning personal property. As the investigation continued Detectives gathered additional information pointing to Adams as the suspect in the Arson investigation.

In addition to the ongoing Arson investigation on Old Mountain Road, another report of Arson came in for the wooded area near Lippard Springs subdivision. Adams was soon located and Detectives began to speak with the suspect. The result of the entire investigation lead to charges being filed against Nicholas Adams 2nd Degree Arson, B & E, and Larceny after B & E and Setting fire to grass, brush lands, and woodlands. He remains in the Iredell County Detention Center under a 25,000.00 secured bond. Adams is currently on probation for charges stemming from the Arrest in Troutman.
