Statesville woman charged with Misdemeanor Cyberstalking and Felony Stalking after violating a bond release from prior charges involving the same victim

Sheriff Darren Campbell stated: A report was filed on Wednesday, August 5, 2020 with the Iredell County Sheriff’s Office in reference to Cyberstalking.

The investigation was assigned to Detective N. Rash with the Iredell County Sheriff’s Office Special Victims Unit.

Detective Rash met with, and interviewed the victim. Detective Rash gathered numerous voicemails and text messages the suspect had sent the victim over the course of several days. The evidence showed the suspect, Carolyn Michelle Jones used several telephone numbers to contact the victim.

Based on the evidence obtained from this investigation obtained by Detective Rash, the magistrate issued a Misdemeanor Cyberstalking Warrant, and due to previous charges on Jones, from the same victim, and a release order being in place, which prohibited Jones from contacting the victim, a Felony Stalking Warrant was received as well.

On Friday, August 7, 2020, deputies with the Iredell County Sheriff’s Office served the arrest warrants on Jones. Jones was taken to the Iredell County Detention Center. Jones was served with the warrants, and appeared before Magistrate D. Chambers who issued a “No Bond” on these charges.
