Statesville utility customers got a notice with their bills recently indicating water treatment requirements were not met.
According to the document, turbidity (or, cloudiness) levels were above normal after heavy rains filled an excavated area with an exposed joint. The city says there was never an emergency and that the public was never in any danger.
The state mandates what is written in the notice sent to customers which says turbidity can provide a medium for microbial growth. According to the notice, corrective efforts were undertaken immediately. Residents do not need to boil water, per the City.
