Statesville PD seizes more than 120 gaming machines and computers

PRESS RELEASE

Statesville NC: Investigators with the Statesville Police Department, conducting an ongoing investigation into the operation of illegal sweepstakes style gaming machine locations, executed simultaneous search warrants on Monday evening May 22, 2017 at 3 locations. All 3 locations operate under the name “Pure Fire”, located at 112 Signal Hill Dr. Unit I, 3442 E. Broad St. Unit C, and 1470 W. Front St.

As a result of the searches at all 3 locations, Investigators worked late into the night and seized in excess of 120 electronic gaming machines/computers and US currency. The investigation is ongoing and charges are pending against the owners/operators of the establishments.

NC General Statute 14-306.4 defines: the sweepstakes style games, electronic machines, and subsequent prizes that are illegal to maintain and operate in the State of North Carolina.
