Statesville man now faces 106 sex-crime charges

PRESS RELEASE

Sheriff Darren Campbell stated on September 2, 2015 a new report was filed with the Iredell County Sheriff’s office in reference to another person being sexually assaulted by Michael Thomas Chambers. This victim was a family member of Chambers and was sexually assaulted by him when she was a young child, under the age of 10. The abuse occurred between 1980 and 1983. The report was turned over to Detective Sgt. J. Lowrance of the Special Victim’s Unit. The victim was interviewed along with witnesses concerning the new allegations. As a result of the investigation, Michael Thomas Chambers, Age 65, of 1117 Turnersburg Hwy Statesville, was charged with an additional 37 counts of First Degree Sexual Offense with a Child by an Adult Offender. Mr. Chambers now faces a total of 106 counts of First Degree Sexual Offenses from the two victims. Michael Chambers was arrested on September 14th 2015 where he was given a bond of $1,000,000.00 with a court date of September 15, 2015.
