Statesville man charged with Trafficking Opiates and other drug related charges

On Wednesday, May 13, 2020, deputies with the Iredell County Sheriff’s Office Aggressive Criminal Enforcement (ACE) Team charged William Kevin Lester of 4184 Hickory Highway, Statesville with Possession of Schedule II Controlled Substance (Oxycodone), and Misdemeanor Possession of Drug Paraphernalia after locating him in the parking lot of 3103 Taylorsville Highway, Statesville.

On Thursday May 28, 2020, Lester was charged, with the additional crime of Felony Trafficking Opiates by Possession.

Members of the Aggressive Criminal Enforcement Team received information about William Lester being in the parking lot of the Box Car Grill located at 3103 Taylorsville Highway apparently using narcotics.

The deputies arrived in the parking lot and located Lester. After being interviewed, by the deputies, Lester admitted he had just injected himself with Oxycodone. A search of the vehicle was performed, Lester was found to be in possession of a syringe, which is commonly used to inject medication. A prescription of Oxycodone, which belonged to a family member, was also located. The prescription bottle contained approximately 117 pills instead of the prescribed 120. Lester then admitted that he had taken the three pills.

Lester was issued a North Carolina Uniform Citations for Possession of Schedule II Controlled Substance, and Misdemeanor Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. The prescription pills were seized pending further investigation.

On Thursday, May 28, 2020 after further investigation into the incident, Lester arrested for Felony Trafficking Opiates by Possession, he was taken to the Iredell County Detention Center where he appeared before Magistrate S. Watkins who issued a 150,000.00 dollars secured bond on this charge.
