Statesville man accused of selling stolen dirt bikes

Sheriff Darren Campbell stated on Thursday, April 14th at approximately 10:00 p.m a Honda 250X dirt bike, red and white in color, was stolen from Westmoreland Road in Troutman. Just a few hours later at approximately 2:00 a.m. on Friday morning, April 15th, a 1982 Yamaha IT175 dirt bike, blue in color, was stolen from Shepherd Road in Mooresville. The offender also attempted to steal a 2003 Yamaha Blaster 200 four wheeler, but the four wheeler was located above the victim’s residence. The victim believed it was left behind once the offender realized that it did not run. While Detectives were investigating both cases they discovered the two dirt bikes were advertised fro sale and they were advertised by the same person on the same day the dirt bikes were stolen. The person who had the dirt bikes advertised for sale resided in Winston Salem. Iredell County Detectives worked with Winston Salem Police Department and were able to set up a meeting with the male who was trying to sell the dirt bikes. Both agencies went to the residence in Winston at the time that was previously set up to view the dirt bikes that were for sale. At that time it was discovered that Dorey Jarvis Joyner of Statesville brought and sold both of the dirt bikes to this individual on April 16th, 2016 for $1,000.00. Both dirt bikes were recovered. Warrants were obtained against Dorey Jarvis Joyner for Felony Attempted Larceny of the four wheeler, Felony Larceny of one of the dirt bikes and Misdemeanor Larceny for the second dirt bike. Dorey Joyner was arrested on May 13, 2016 and received a $2,000.00 secured bond. Joyner has a pending court dates in Statesville.
