Standoff ends in Cornelius

On Tuesday, November 22, 2016, the Cornelius Police Department was called for a welfare check in the area of Flying Jib Rd and America Cup Rd in the Peninsula. After a 6.5 hour standoff, the North Meck SWAT Team made entry and found the resident deceased. No additional information will be released at this time due to notification of next of kin.

The Cornelius Police Department would like to thank the North Meck SWAT Team, Davidson Police Department, Huntersville Police Department, Cornelius-Lemley Fire Rescue and Mecklenburg EMS for assistance on scene.
