Sheriff’s Office: Use of stolen debit card leads to arrest in stolen vehicle case

Sheriff Darren Campbell stated that on January 30th, 2017 Deputies responded to an address off of Brawley School Road to a report of a stolen motor vehicle. The victim was also alerted by his bank, sending him alerts about multiple transactions being made on his debit card at the Walmart in Mooresville. Deputies then went to the Walmart and were able to obtain video surveillance of the suspect pulling into the parking lot with the victim’s vehicle and completing two transactions totaling $336.22 and attempted another for $57.89, which was declined. Detectives were assigned the case and the suspect was later identified as Marcus Tyler Holloway. Mr. Holloway was arrested and charged with 1 count of Felony Larceny of a Motor Vehicle, 3 counts of Felony Identity Theft and 1 count of financial card theft. Mr. Holloway was taken before an Iredell County Magistrate and received a $20,000 bond on those charges.

Mr. Holloway is currently on probation for larceny charges. The vehicle was later recovered in Charlotte North Carolina.
