Sheriff’s Office: Suspects entered home, demanded meds

Sherriff Darren Campbell stated on December 29th, 2014 Deputies and Detectives from the Iredell County Sheriff’s Office responded to a reported burglary. In this incident the victim reported that was home alone at her residence on Monticello road when around 12:45am two men entered her home and demanded her medication. When the victim didn’t immediately turn over her medication it was reported the suspects made threats towards her.

Early on in the investigation Deputies learned that a friend had come over to the home of the victim and had brought a friend of his with him. The friend of the friend was identified as Michael Cole Davis. While visiting at her home the victim discovered that someone had been in her medicine cabinet. She confronted Davis who denied taking any medications.

The victim reported a short time later she was getting ready for bed when she heard a noise. The stated next she was grabbed and put her on the bed. The suspect then held the victim down the other male searched the room. The victim then stated one of the suspects during the ordeal placed a pillow over her head and demanded to know where the pills were at. The victim refused to tell the suspects where the pills were and after not finding any of the pain medication the suspects fled the scene.

The victim had recognized one of the suspects as Michael Davis, the man who had been to her home earlier. Deputies responded to the home of Davis located at 137 Rosy Apple Lane and during a search located gloves, clothing, and other evidence linking Davis to the crime. An interview was conducted with Davis and Officers were able to identify the second suspect as David Jewell of 105 Rosy Apple Lane Statesville. Deputies photographed and collected the items for evidence and gathered all available witness statements.

During the course of the investigation Jewell was located and interviewed. Davis admitted that after being accused of stealing medication by the victim he decided to go back and take the medication. Both Cole and Davis have been arrested and charged with Felony First Degree Burglary and Second Degree Kidnapping. David Jewell received a $7,500.00 dollar secured bond by Magistrate S. Nicholson and Michael Cole Davis received a $40,000.00 dollar secured bond by Magistrate P. Boyd. Davis is currently on 24 months Supervised Probation for Felony Possession of Marijuana, and Manufacture Marijuana. Davis has been on probation since May 1st, 2014.
