Sheriff’s Office: Reported armed robbery didn’t happen

Sheriff Darren Campbell stated on the morning of Friday 01-30-2015 at 0655 hours the Iredell County Sheriff’s Office responded to a reported Robbery with a Dangerous Weapon on Hobbs Lane Mooresville. The victim reported that he was robbed at knife point at the end of his driveway and the suspect fled the area on a four-wheeler.

Deputies and Detectives searched the area and interviewed numerous people who lived in the area along with numerous drivers in the area. Officers were able to locate numerous witnesses who were able to provide information and provide home video of the area. Detectives were able to view some of the video and were unable to verify the reported crime.

Detectives conducted numerous interviews and finally confronted the victim who reported the crime about the possibility that this crime didn’t occur. The victim admitted that the damage to the property and very minor scratches and injuries were self-inflicted injuries. The victim stated that he was having some medical issues and stated this was the reasoning behind filing this report. The victim was taken to a local medical facility by Deputies where he is seeking medical attention. At this time the case is on going.
