Sex offender arrested for using false name online

PRESS RELEASE – On February 23, 2015 Deputy Price of the Iredell County Sheriff’s Office Special Victim’s Unit charged Franklin Donald Cummings with using a false name on social media.

Registered sex offenders in North Carolina are required to notify their registering Sheriff’s Office of any online identifier the offender uses or intends to use. An online identifier is defined as an electronic mail address, instant message screen name, user ID, chat or other Internet communication name.

While attempting to verify Cumming’s online identifiers, Deputy Price discovered Cummings was using the online identifier “Elkana Ben Avraham”. As a result of this investigation, Cummings was arrested and placed in the Iredell County Detention Center under a $5000.00 bond.
