In order to safely remove a large tree, E. Broad St. will be closed in both directions between Tradd St. and Salisbury Rd. on Tuesday, Dec. 3, and Wednesday, Dec. 4, between 8 a.m. and 3 p.m. Traffic will be detoured to Front St. According to Statesville Utility Arborist Shawn Cox, the street closure is necessary to allow a large crane take down the tree located at 248 E. Broad St. Cox explained that a fungus has caused root rot in the tree, making it necessary for removal.
