Robbery victim now facing drug charges

Sheriff Darren Campbell stated the completed investigation into the shooting and robbery incident that occurred at 1693 Old Mountain roads lead to the Homeowner now facing drug related charges. On Tuesday, May 18, 2016 Shaheem Williams the 5th robbery suspects was released from Carolina Medical Center where he was then taken into custody. Mr. Williams was taken to the Iredell County Detention Center where he was placed under a $100,000.00 dollar secured bond. Detectives found that after running each of the suspect’s criminal history they had multiple prior criminal charges involving breaking and entering and violent crimes.

Shaheem Williams’ background shows that he has been convicted of second degree kidnapping, and conspiracy to commit common law robbery. Along with his current charges of first degree burglary, attempted robbery with a dangerous weapon, and possession of a stolen firearm.

Ryan Woodard’s background shows that he has been convicted of possession of a firearm by a minor, felony breaking and entering, larceny after breaking and entering, and shoplifting. Mr. Woodard currently has pending charges for felony larceny, and conspire to commit felony larceny. Mr. Woodard has also been charged with first degree burglary, attempted robbery with a dangerous weapon, and possession of a stolen firearm.

Royhame Williams shows to have a previous possession of marijuana conviction and is currently charged with first degree burglary, attempted robbery with a dangerous weapon, and possession of a stolen firearm.

Jalen Leach’s history shows that he has been charged with felony larceny however has no prior convictions. Mr. Leach is currently charged with first degree burglary, attempted robbery with a dangerous weapon, and possession of a stolen firearm.

Marcus Hatley is also charged with first degree burglary, attempted robbery with a dangerous weapon, and possession of a stolen firearm.

In this investigation interviews were attempted and/or conducted with all the suspects. In addition Kyle Jones the alleged victim in this case and who resides at 1693 Old Mountain Rd was located and re- interviewed in regard to the incident. Detectives also returned to the home on Old Mountain to collect additional evidence. During the investigation firearms, ammunition, marijuana and drug paraphernalia was collected from the scene.

In review of all the evidence including statements from the all witnesses, suspects and victims Detectives were able to piece together the events that lead to this incident. It appears this incident started with one of the alleged robbery suspects making arrangements to purchase a quantity of marijuana from the Jones. As some point statements indicate the plan changed from a drug purchase to a robbery. In this case Jones opened fire on the men before they gained access to the home.

In addition to the five suspects being charged with Robbery and related offenses. Jones was arrested and charged with conspiracy to sale or deliver marijuana, maintaining a dwelling or place for controlled substance, possession of marijuana, and possession of marijuana paraphernalia. Mr. Jones was taken before the magistrate where he received a $10,000.00 secured bond. Mr. Jones is awaiting trial. Mr. Jones’ history shows that he has been convicted of prior criminal offenses.
