Police: Flower pot used for break-in

Statesville NC: On Wednesday night, June 25th, 2014, just before 10PM, Statesville Police Officers Cantara and Brown were flagged down by a passerby while they were in the parking lot of the Southland shopping center and notified that a subject was breaking into the Rolling Pin at 1132 Shelton Ave.

Officers immediately responded to the Rolling Pin and encountered a black male subject in the shadows in the back parking lot of Rolling Pin. The subject was detained and officers began investigating. It was determined that the suspect used a flower planter to break out 2 glass windows. It was determined that nothing had been stolen at the time.

The suspect had shards of glass in his shoes and hair. The suspect was identified by the passerby, who witnessed the suspect at the Break-In.

The suspect was identified as a Willie Lerence Gresham, B/M, 30, of Statesville NC. He was taken into custody and charged with Misdemeanor Breaking & Entering. He was taken before a magistrate and was held at the Iredell County Detention Center under a $10,000 secured bond.
