Missing autistic Statesville teen located

PRESS RELEASE

Statesville NC: On Tuesday afternoon, 11/14/2017, SPD officers responded to a report of a runaway juvenile with special needs from a residence on Stewart Ct. in Statesville. Officers learned that the 14 year old with autism had left home, after some minor issues regarding his grades at school. While his mother was occupied and unaware, the juvenile grabbed some of his items and slipped out of the home on foot.

Multiple SPD officers responded to assist in the search. Along with a bloodhound K-9 officer with the ICSO. ISAR (Iredell Search & Rescue) also responded to coordinate the search. A reverse 911 was also put out with the information. A command post was established in the parking lot of NB Mills school.

At about 10:50 PM, Officers located the young man on Sullivan Rd. walking. He was in good condition, just cold. The juvenile was then taken back to the command post and reunited with his family.
