Man thought he was meeting a friend, gets robbed instead

PRESS RELEASE

Sheriff Darren Campbell stated: On Sunday, February 3, 2019, the Iredell County Sheriff’s Office responded to an incident of an armed robbery on Starlight Road off of Amity Hill Road.

Deputies arrived on scene to find the victim parked on the side of Starlight Road. The victim reported he made arrangements to meet a female friend on Starlight Road.

The victim advised once he had meet with Summer Scott got in the vehicle. Scott then directed him where to park. Soon after parking the vehicle, the victim advised the deputies, two men ran up to the vehicle, broke out the side window and assaulted him at gun point. The suspects stole money and other items from him. Scott left before the deputies arrived. Detective Sergeant W. Gregory with the Criminal Investigations Division was called to the scene to conduct the investigation.

During the course of the investigation Detective Gregory located evidence linking the victim and the suspect, Summer Scott. Additional evidence obtained during the investigation indicated Scott set up the victim to be robbed.

Based on the evidence gathered, an arrest warrant was issued for Summer Dawn Scott, of Statesville, for Felony Robbery with a dangerous weapon and Misdemeanor Injury to Personal Property.

Summer Dawn Scott was located and arrested on Tuesday, February 5, 2019. She was transported to the Iredell County Detention Center. She was served with the warrants. Magistrate S. Watkins issued Scott an 80,000.00 dollars secured bond. This investigation is still ongoing and additional arrests are expected in this case.
