Detectives with the Yadkinville Police Department discovered a burglary of an unoccupied home back in January, 2014. The investigation revealed multiple firearms had been stolen, all of which were long guns.
After an extensive investigation, detectives successfully located the firearms outside Yadkin County where the firearms had been traded among convicted felons, along with additional firearms stolen from an unrelated burglary outside Yadkinville.
Charles Anthony Ballard, B/M, age 42 of 1149 Myers Road, Yadkinville NC, has been charged with the original burglary of the home and theft of the firearms.
Ballard was served warrants for Felonious Breaking and Entering and two counts of Larceny of Firearms by the Yadkin County Sheriff’s Office. Yadkinville Police served one warrant for Possession of Firearms by Felon. His bond was set at $10,000 secured bond pending a court appearance on March 24th, 2014.
Ballard’s parents, Hubert Jeffery Speaks, B/M, age 56 and Veronica King Speaks, B/F, age 59, both of 401 Cedar St, Yadkinville NC were also charged for their participation in the crime. Each was charged with two counts of Felonious Possession of Stolen Firearms and received $2,500.00 unsecured bonds.
