Iredell names new Emergency Management Coordinator

It is my pleasure to announce that Jody Smyre has been named to replace retiring Paul Webster (after 30 years) as the Emergency Management Coordinator for Iredell County.

Mr. Smyre has been employed with Iredell County since 1998 and currently serves as a Shift Supervisor for Iredell County EMS. He is certified through the NC Emergency Management Association as an Associate Emergency Manager and has served as Iredell County’s Radiological Officer since 2010.

Mr. Smyre is a 1997 graduate of Catawba Valley Community College and received his Bachelors of Science in Emergency Management from Western Carolina University in 2006. He lives in Statesville with his wife Kristy and their 9 children; Dillon, Devin, Destiny, Kaitlyn, Rebekah, Andi, Zachary, Jenna, and Nathan.

He will begin his new position on June 8 and assume the full role of Emergency Management Coordinator on June 30 when Paul Webster retires. A retirement reception for Mr. Webster is planned for June 22 at the Iredell County Fire Services and Emergency Management offices located at 349 N. Center St in Statesville from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m.
