Runaway Mooresville teen located at Greensboro library

Sheriff Darren Campbell stated: This runaway female was located in Greensboro on July 3, 2019.

Detectives with the Iredell County Sheriff’s Office Special Victims Unit were able to obtain numerous court orders for cellular telephone, and other electronic communications during the course of this investigation.

They were able to use this information to locate this female at the Greensboro Public Library.


Sheriff Darren Campbell stated: On Sunday, June 30, 2019019 a report was filed with the Iredell County Sheriff’s Office in regards to a runaway juvenile.

The juvenile, Kelsie Jane Prevatte, ran away from a group home in the Mooresville area. The juvenile was last seen leaving the area on foot. The juvenile went to a nearby business, where she borrowed a phone from an employee there. The juvenile messaged, and called several subjects.

The juvenile was given money from a patron at the business, then secured a taxi to the Statesville area. Kelsie Prevatte is believed to have since traveled to the Winston-Salem or Greensboro area.
She was last seen wearing a gray hoodie, turquoise fleece pajama pants, and black Vans shoes.

Kelsie is approximately 5 foot 10 inches tall and weighs approximately 210 pounds. She had brown hair and brown eyes.

The juvenile is in the custodial care of Currituck Child Protective Services. She has family in Virginia, and may be traveling in that direction.
