Sheriff Darren E. Campbell stated: On Wednesday February 8, 2017 members of the Iredell County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Investigation Unit along with members of the Aggressive Criminal Enforcement (ACE) Team executed a search warrant at 154 Southway Lane in Eastern Iredell County.

Narcotics investigators received information from a concerned citizen about a possible marijuana growing operation in the River Hill Road, Chestnut Grove Road area. A surveillance operation was established and soon investigators were able to identify the 154 Southway Lane residence as the “Grow house”.

Investigators were able to obtain a search warrant for the home. Upon entry to the home, investigators could detect a very strong odor of marijuana. Located in a room of the home were 43 marijuana plants of various size, water pumps, fertilizer and indoor grow lights. In another room of the home investigators located over 100 pots used to grow marijuana, which were similar to the ones with growing marijuana in them, power inverters, insulation, piping and a marijuana processing machine.

John Frank Martin is the second suspect arrested on Tuesday February 14, 2017 in connection to this grow operation. Martin turned himself into deputies and he was taken to the Iredell County Detention Center where he was charged with one count each of Felony Manufacturing of Marijuana and Felony Possession of Marijuana. Martin was placed under 5000.00 dollars secured bond by Magistrate Chambers.
