Iredell-Statesville Schools and the Board of Education are pleased to announce the appointment of Kristie Ann Franco to the principalship at Woodland Heights Elementary. Ms. Franco comes to I-SS by way of Arizona, where her most recent experience was Principal of an elementary school. While leading Cimarron Springs Elementary in Surprise, Arizona, Ms. Franco and her team of teachers increased the Reading score for students by 12% in one year, resulting in the highest Reading growth in the Dysart School District.
Ms. Franco’s campus experiences began as an elementary teacher in Arizona, after graduation from Arizona State University in 1995 with a Bachelor of Elementary Education degree. In 2002, Ms. Franco received her Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership from Arizona State University West and continued teaching and leading in the classroom. Becoming an Instructional Growth Teacher in 2012 put her in a leadership position, responsible for professional development planning,observations/conferences on teacher instruction and assisting the principal. A later appointment as Dean of Students led to an Assistant Principal position then to Principal at Cimarron Springs Elementary School.
“We feel that with her solid understanding of content, communications skills, professionalism and positive attitude, Ms. Franco will fit right into the community of Woodland Heights Elementary School,” said Brady Johnson, Superintendent of Iredell-Statesville Schools. “We are anxious for you to meet with her and welcome her into the school family.”

Ms. Franco’s duties as Principal will begin on July 11, 2017..
