HICKORY – After months of focused recruitment efforts, Hickory Police Department is proud to announce the hiring of twelve new police officer trainees. Each of these new officers bring a fresh perspective of excitement and service to the department and increase the overall diversity which is representative of the City of Hickory.
Of the officers hired, seven already hold their law enforcement certificate. The remaining five officers began Basic Law Enforcement Training (B.L.E.T.) on August 10th and will complete the program on December 8th of this year.
“We are extremely excited for these officers as they enter into their policing careers,” said Chief Thurman Whisnant. “These officers came highly qualified and we know they will represent our department and community well.”
