Hazmat situation forces evacuation of SIHS science building

A hazardous materials incident is currently ongoing at South Iredell High School. Crews from multiple departments are on scene working to identify a material that caused an odor within the science building. Hazardous materials teams report that initiation test do no reveal anything toxic or flammable

No injuries are reported and school remains in session although the science building is closed. Parents have been made aware of the situation via the schools mass notification system.
