Fourteen unlocked vehicles entered, one stolen in Davidson

PRESS RELEASE

On Tuesday, April 18, the Davidson Police Department responded to several breaking and entering and larceny from motor vehicle calls from the McConnell neighborhood off Davidson-Concord Road. One unknown suspect entered an unlocked entry door into an attached garage and stole a vehicle using a key which was inside that vehicle.

The Davidson Police Department is asking residents in the McConnell neighborhood if anyone has sidewalk and/or street view video dating Monday, April 17 between the hours of 11:00 p.m. and 4:00 a.m. to please contact either Detective Vernon Siders or Detective Jay Stokes at 704-892-5131. During that time 14 unlocked cars were entered in addition to the one which was stolen. Items stolen from these cars included coins, a GPS, and a firearm.

These incidents serve to remind all residents, regardless of neighborhood, to lock their vehicles and all garage doors at night. The Davidson Police Department wants people to know that these types of crimes are preventable. Offenders make split-second decisions based on their perception of what is inside each vehicle. These crimes take less than a minute to complete and are often carried out between 11:00 p.m. and 4:00 a.m.

“Please help us to send a strong message that the Town of Davidson will not be a location of opportunity for criminals,” said Detective Jay Stokes. “We want Davidson to be a safe place to live, work, and raise a family, and we’d like to partner with the community to prevent crime.”
