Former daycare worker gets over 200 years in prison for child sex crimes

STATESVILLE, N.C. (WSIC NEWS) – A former Statesville daycare worker was sentenced to more than two hundred years in prison Thursday after being found guilty of more than 60 child sex crime charges.

According to the Iredell County Clerk of Court’s Office, Joshua Young was convicted of 49 counts of taking indecent liberties with a child and 15 counts of first degree sex offense.

Joshua Young was arrested in 2014. The Statesville Police Department says the crimes occurred at Young’s residence between 1995 and 1997. According to investigators, the crimes did not involve Church of Today Daycare which is now closed. Police say a victim reported he or she was subject to inappropriate activity around the ages 3 and 4.
