MOORESVILLE, NC (105.9 FM WSIC) – The first Officer Jordan Sheldon Family Fun Day was held Saturday in downtown Mooresville, raising money for a scholarship named in honor the officer killed in the line of duty.
The event raised $4,000 towards a $10,000 goal supporting the Officer Jordan H. Sheldon Memorial Scholarship at Mitchell Community College. Twenty-four year-old singer/songwriter Kayla Vega organized the event where she performed her original single “Home” which focuses on life in Mooresville. The song was written to honor Sheldon’s memory and raise money to support officers.
Vega’s song can be purchased via her website. She will be performing “Home” at Richard’s Coffee Shop in downtown Mooresville Saturday, July 6th between 5 and 8:30 p.m.
