On Sunday 3/27/2016 around 1300 hrs, Traffic Safety Officer Devin Bentley met a black BMW with gold wheels turning onto North Eastway Drive at Old Murdock Road. Troutman Police Department had received intelligence reports that this vehicle had been traveling at a high rate of speed up and down Talley Street with no license plate. After the vehicle passed Officer Bentley, he noticed there was in fact no license plate on the vehicle. Officer Bentley turned around and noticed that the vehicle began to speed up in an attempt to evade him. Officer Bentley was able to get a lock on the vehicle’s speed with his radar unit. The Officer activated blue lights/siren in attempt to pull the vehicle over. The vehicle would not stop for the Officer. The Officer gave chase and then cancelled due to heavy traffic and safety concerns for other motorists. The suspect vehicle was last seen heading down Church Street toward the Troutman Library. Several seconds later, the vehicle was spotted again by Officer Gary Shew on Talley Street traveling at a high rate of speed. The vehicle turned down Zion Wesley Road off of Talley Street. Officers Bentley and Shew located the abandoned vehicle at the dead end portion of Zion Wesley Road. The suspect had jumped and run. Iredell County Sheriff’s Office K9 unit assisted with a track. The suspect could not be located. Officers conducted an investigation and spoke to area residents. It was determined that the suspect resided with his father at 155 Zion Wesley Road which was just up the road from the abandoned vehicle. The suspect was identified as 20 year old Thomas Adrian Ramsey. The suspect was not at the residence. The vehicle was seized under the “Run and Your Done” law. Warrants were issued on the suspect.
