Sheriff Darren Campbell stated that on 5-19-16 Lt. C.L. Stone of the Aggressive Criminal Enforcement Team conducted a traffic stop on a Honda Accord on Wilkesboro Hwy. at Scotts Creek Rd. due to a registration violation. Stone advised the driver, Gerald I. Lunsford, 38, of Union Grove of the violation and requested that he and his passenger, Donna L. Speece, 42, of Hiddenite, both exit the vehicle. Stone then found Speece to be in possession of 4 dosage units of Oxycodone. A search of the vehicle was then conducted at which time there an unlabeled pill bottle was located containing 3 individually wrapped packages of methamphetamine inside a compartment under the center console. The outer shell of an ink pen which contained a white colored powder residue was located between the center console and the passenger seat. It is believed that the ink pen shell is being used to snort the oxycodone pills. All of the items were seized and both suspects were placed under arrest and transported to the Iredell County Detention Center where they each received a $7,500 secured bond.
