MOORESVILLE, N.C. (WSIC NEWS) – Two senior Mooresville Police Department officials have been demoted as the town continues its review of a report from an outside agency investigating working conditions.
Deputy Chief Gerald Childress and Major Ron Chilton have been demoted to police officer.
“There are other pending actions in progress and we are leaning heavily on our outside counsel regarding those actions in order to follow due process and be thorough and fair in evaluating and reevaluating information that might be provided,” a statement from the town read.
Starting Monday, Captain Frank Falzone is promoted to Second Assistant Chief. Major Eric Henderson is being transferred to Third Assistant Chief. Both will report to Interim Chief Ron Campurciani.
The town is continuing to review a more than 5,000 page report from an outside agency tasked with investigating claims of a hostile working environment at the police department. Chief Damon Williams and Captain David Call remain on paid administrative leave.
