Davis Regional Medical Center names new CEO

Statesville, NC, March 8, 2017 – Dr. Ralph Bentley, Chairman of the Board of Trustees at Davis Regional Medical Center, announced recently the appointment of Matthew Banks as Chief Executive Officer of the facility, effective immediately.

Banks has nearly a decade of hospital leadership experience, most recently serving as interim CEO at Davis Regional. Prior to that assignment, he was the chief operating officer at Lake Norman Regional Medical Center, a 123-bed facility affiliated with Community Health Systems. There his key roles and responsibilities included oversight of all facility operational activities and financial performance. His operational accomplishments included recruitment of nine key physicians; planning, design and construction of an interventional cardiovascular lab suite; and implementation of a new interventional cardiology service line. Physician and employee satisfaction improved under his leadership as well.

Other leadership roles include COO and Interim CEO at Stringfellow Memorial in Anniston and Executive Director of Nursing and Operations at Shelby Baptist Medical Center in Alabaster, AL.

Banks is a graduate of Troy State University and the University of Alabama-Birmingham, holding a Masters of Science degree and a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology/Chemistry. He is also a former adjunct clinical professor at the University of Alabama, and he is a member of the American College of Healthcare Executives.

Banks noted, “I am excited to join the Davis Regional family and I look forward to working with the staff and medical team to continue to deliver high quality healthcare services for our community.”

Dr. Bentley added, “Matthew’s expansive experience makes him the right fit to lead Davis Regional. We are confident he will help us build upon the quality and services we provide Iredell County.”

Banks and his wife, Susan, along with their daughters Allie and Mattie, are looking forward to getting settled at Davis Regional and becoming an active member of the community.
