Boy missing on Mountain Island Lake found deceased

HUNTERSVILLE, NC (WSIC) – Emergency personnel have located the body of a boy who went missing on Mountain Island Lake Sunday.

The boy was on the water with family when he fell off a boat and disappeared.  His body was found shortly after 5:00 Sunday near the site where he went missing.  The boat had been anchored offshore near Latta Plantation.

Initial reports indicate the child was thirteen years-old, according to the Huntersville Fire Department.  His age has yet to be confirmed with CMPD which will be handling the investigation.

The agency requested additional help Sunday afternoon from the Charlotte, Long Creek and Cook’s Fire Departments.
