SALISBURY, N.C. (WSIC NEWS) – The community welcomed home the Rowan County All-Stars Thursday night after the team won the Little League Softball World Series this week.

People gathered at the Salisbury Mall to greet the team which includes four students from Mooresville Middle School. The school’s softball coach Brandon Piper was in the crowd. He spoke with WSIC earlier Thursday about the win and the pride it created at Mooresville Middle.

“It’s almost disbelief. You see your friends on ESPN doing things the professional athletes do,” says Piper.

The girls beat a team from Louisiana 4-1 in the game played Wednesday night.
