Child injured after falling from zero turn mower

Lincolnton, NC – An eight year old boy suffered severe injuries when he fell from a zero turn lawn mower today.

A parent was mowing the lawn at a residence in the 800 block of Clark Creek Road around 5:15 p.m. She had a small child on her lap and an eight year old boy was riding on the deck of a zero turn mower.

The parent stopped the mower but failed to disengage the blades. The eight year boy fell from the deck and was struck by the blades on the left leg and both arms. He was airlifted to Atrium Health – Charlotte by Med Center Air. He is undergoing surgery for his injuries.

Investigation into the accident is continuing by the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office.
