Catawba County Sheriff’s Office SEG Unit Seizes Trafficking Amount of Methamphetamine

  

On Sunday, July 12th, 2020 at approximately 6:15pm, investigators with the Catawba County Sheriff’s Office Special Enforcement Group (SEG) seized a trafficking amount of Methamphetamine following a traffic stop in Maiden.

SEG investigators stopped a vehicle traveling along Hwy 321 North after observing that vehicle commit a traffic violation. A K9 assigned to the SEG Unit alerted investigators to the presence of narcotics inside this vehicle. A search then revealed two pounds of Marijuana and 179 grams of Methamphetamine.

The driver of this vehicle, Paul Mark James, was arrested and has been charged with Trafficking in Methamphetamine by Possession, Trafficking in Methamphetamine by Transportation, Maintaining a Place for Controlled Substance and Possession with Intent to Manufacture/Sell/Deliver a Schedule VI Controlled Substance.

James (52 yoa) a Hickory resident, received at $50,000.00 secured bond and has a first appearance in Catawba County District Court on 07/13/2020.
