MOORESVILLE (WSIC) – It’s a project twelve years in the making – a formal groundbreaking was held Thursday with construction already underway on the Langtree Village Apartments in Mooresville.

“The Langtree at the Lake Village community creates an exclusive environment in the Lake Norman and Charlotte Regions to meet the demand of the affluent market, fueled by growing corporate relocations and professionals moving to the area,” says developer Rick Howard.

The 288 unit project is on the shores of Lake Norman just off Alcove Road – it’s an investment of about $90 million dollars, creating luxury apartments with amenities like a pool, boat club and fitness center.

Mayor Miles Atkins feels the community has shared the vision of developers.

“(The project) complements the corporate campus environment the Town of Mooresville has planned for Langtree,” says Atkins. “The Langtree Village will offer a remarkable waterfront living option for residents.”

The long-term goal is for the site to become a mixed-use property.

“We plan, in phase two, to add a luxury hotel, condominiums, office buildings, restaurants, retail and other services on the remaining out parcels that could add an additional $150 million of development to the project,” says partner Brad Howard.

Construction on the project is expected to take about 18 months.
