PRESS RELEASE

The Greater Statesville Chamber of Commerce publicly announced today that David Meachem has been selected to serve as the Interim President of the Chamber.   Meacham will start on August 1 and will serve in that capacity until the Board selects who the next full time President/CEO will be.

Meachem was Chairman of the Board of the Chamber in 2001.   He currently serves as Chair of the burgeoning Historically Underutilized Business committee of the Chamber.   Jeff Smith, 2018 Chamber Chairman of the Board, noted, “We believe David Meachem is dynamically positioned to help keep a solid footing over the next few months.   His breadth of community involvement over the course of the last thirty years was a key in selecting him for this important post.”

The Chamber Board opted to develop the Interim position as a result of the recent announcement by David Bradley, current President, that he would be assuming a similar role in Athens, Georgia on August 1.

Meachem commented, “I am honored to be able to serve this organization on a part time basis.  I love this community and have seen the importance of the Chamber’s involvement.  I hope to provide support to a wonderful staff during my time here.”

The Chamber announced this past weekend that a national search is underway for the position of President/CEO.  That search is being conducted by Swingbridge Consulting, one of the top Chamber recruitment firms in the southeast.   For more information about that search, contact Anissa Starnes at anissa@swingbridgeconsulting.com / (704) 941-8052
