Longtime Statesville PD veteran retiring

PRESS RELEASE

On January 31, 2019, Statesville PD personnel gathered to celebrate the retirement of Captain Tim Hartness. Hartness has been with Statesville PD for 26.5 years, rising through the ranks from patrol officer to his current assignment, Captain over Patrol Division’s Charlie Squad.

During his tenure, Hartness served in almost every division within the agency and held numerous certifications, including serving as one of the agency’s firearms instructors. Hartness was one of the first two traffic officers when the unit was formed in 1998. He also served on the SPD Special Response Team and the Mobile Field Force Team, serving with the team that worked the 2012 Democratic National Convention in Charlotte.
