Mooresville, NC- It was just few minutes before midnight when Mooresville Fire-Rescue and South Iredell Volunteer Fire Department were dispatched to a report of one or more houses on fire on Samara Lane located in The Reserve at Ashlyn Creek subdivision. Upon arrival of the first arriving personnel, firefighters discovered multiple houses under construction which were actively on fire. Additional resources were requested as firefighters started a defensive attack on the fire and focused efforts on preventing the fire from spreading even further.
Of 13 lots with homes in various stages of construction, fire officials initially consider six (6) of those houses as complete losses with very little of the structures remaining. A seventh house suffered significant fire damage. Additionally, several buildings across the street from the destroyed homes received minor to moderate damage from radiant heat.
The investigation to determine the origin and cause of the fires is being conducted by representatives from Mooresville Fire-Rescue Fire Marshal’s Office, Mooresville Police Department, North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation, and the North Carolina Office of the State Fire Marshal.
