STATESVILLE, N.C. (WSIC) – A Cloverleaf Elementary teacher is going above and beyond to help her students.

Second grade teacher Kristy Money mails personalized notes to her classes. She’s been sending the notes, sometimes hand-written, for over twenty years.

“I hope what they get out of receiving these letters is just knowing that someone cares about them and that they’re excited to see them when they come to school,” says Money.

Money sent letters to last year’s class over summer vacation and will soon mail postcards to her new students. Money uses what she learns about students in the classroom to personalize her letters.

“When they come back into the classroom after they receive that letter, whether it’s the beginning of the year or the end of the year, they come to me with a smile on their face and say ‘I got your letter Mrs. Money.’ That’s my goal. I want them to be excited.”
