Iredell-Statesville Schools will be closed Wednesday, May 16 as teachers and others head to a march in Raleigh.
That decision was made by the Board of Education Monday. Teachers from across the state are expected in Raleigh to push for additional funding, smaller class sizes and greater support.
Iredell-Statesville spokeswoman Susie Wiberg says as of Monday morning, there had been approximately 200 requests for time off from teachers and staff. The district has approximately 1300 teachers. Mooresville Graded and Charlotte Mecklenburg Schools previously made the same decision.
